Knock, Knock, Its The Unfriendly. Chapter VI

CHAPTER SIX
FOREVER
Patricia woke up on Saturday morning stretching her arms, she thought she felt fine. She got excited remembering today was her school dinner night. She looked at her closet and got up to
get her dress out. She tried on her shoes and placed them by her reading table, she placed the dress on her chair and headed downstairs. “Mum, Good morning, Dad Good morning” she met her parents in the kitchen holding each other or something, Patricia giggled and covered her face, her parents both replied her and resumed their attention to each other. She went into the living room and found her brothers cleaning. She smiled and shook her head. “Good morning twins” she said to both of them, they both ignored her knowing she was about to tease them, “Look who won the sleeping match, showing us her teeth for a medal” Wale said, the three siblings laughed. There was no denying that Saturday mornings were always one of the best. Patricia loved the traditional family breakfast thing, the way everyone disobeyed the law of not eating with your mouth full. She loved to listen to her mother talk about who and who was getting some kind of punishment for bad behavior. She felt even more better when nobody talked about her Thursday incident. A good morning it was.
Alex had called her at mid afternoon to check on her, he wanted her home address so he could come get her but her dad had promised to get her to the school premises by himself. Alex could meet with her up there and he could get to see who was taking his daughter as his date. Alex had agreed and hung-up. Patricia watched the clock hourly waiting for the dressing time to lapse. She watched television most part of the day and help her mum make lunch. She watched the clock in the kitchen too.
At half past six she retired to her room to take a shower, she needed all the freshness she could get, “Nothing is stopping tonight” she thought to herself. Her mum came in later to dress her as she was applying her moisturizer. Mrs. Andrews had come in with her makeup set and gotten her daughter made up. She thought Patricia looked older and really beautiful, she was glad the doctor’s report on any pregnancy had been negative, she decided to pack up her daughters hair and form a wrap with it. She sighed when she was done with the makeover, she was proud of her self. “Look in the mirror” she told her daughter. Patricia leaped excitedly when she saw how beautiful she looked. Her mother handed her her dress and she put it on, it must had been a dress cut and made specially for her as it fitted her like a second
skin, Patricia kept beaming. Mrs. Andrews stepped back to look at her daughter with pride and handed her some simple jewelries. “There you go, my baby’s so beautiful, wait till everybody sees you in school” she said to her daughter. Patricia kept smiling “Thank you so much mum” she finally said. “Get your shoes let me go tell your dad you’re ready and get a camera, my daughter’s first date” she heard her mum say excitedly before she left her room. Patricia was left alone now, she looked at herself in the mirror and smiled. She knew she was beautiful and jaws would drop that evening.
Mrs. Andrews arrived downstairs at the dining table to tell her husband to get his camera ready, she told him he wouldn’t believed how his daughter was looking. On his way to get the camera he stopped to get the door when he heard a knock. He opened and smiled as he saw who it was but said nothing, few seconds later, his wife and two sons heard him say “Oh why, come in dear.”

Patricia had only waited five minutes and had gotten impatient, “What was keeping mum?” she thought to herself, the desk clock read twenty past seven o’clock. She wore her shoes and took her purse with her, she left her room and headed downstairs. “Mum, Mum!, Mummy!” she had started calling as soon as she left her room she was worried about spoiling her dad’s and siblings’ surprises. She gave up and headed to the living room. She stopped at the last stair hoping that someone sees her and jaw-drops but no one came, she rolled her eyes and stepped down holding her dress so she doesn’t trip. The living room was empty, so was in the dining area to the kitchen, she called “Mum! Dad! Dad! Deji! Wale!” she called out aloud but got no response, she headed upstairs again and checked every room. “Empty” she said to herself. She was back down stairs and took off her shoes, she wore a pair of flip-flops and walked outside, the cars were in the garage, she found no one. “Where did they all go? What’s going on? Is this some kind of a joke?” she said more to herself. A frown now crossed her face as she walked back into the house, there was a new chill to the house that she had ignored earlier. She stood at the entrance and opened her mouth in a voiceless scream. The blue eyed one sat on the edge of the stairs looking at her with concern. “I’m here now, now we would be together forever” he said with a beautiful smile.

Dear Man Please. Episode III

Episode 3

To cut to the chase of this event of my life, I should had called up Yemisi to tell her about the phone call from Dele but I decided not to, I didn’t want to sound too excited about the whole thing, God knows- he might not even call me anymore, I didn’t want to overexcite myself as well.
I wasn’t surprised when I didn’t hear from the so called Dele all through till Friday finally came, he had said he would call back and he didn’t, I was certainly not looking forward to meeting him anymore, I was grateful the excitement of his call lasted for just a day.

Yemisi woke me up in the morning of Friday with her call, she sounded excited and told me that her newest catch was coming to Ibadan that morning already, she said he was coming along with his friend that wanted to hook up with me, I asked her without much interest if she remembered she told me she was giving the number to Dele and she sounded surprised, she asked who Dele was and I said he called me just once, she said the real person had probably not called me yet and maybe I was mixing things up, I agreed with her but also told her that I wouldn’t be going anywhere with them, she seemed shocked and hung up almost immediately. I laughed after she hung up and decided to resume my sleep. Few minutes later Yemisi was at my door, she was practically screaming my name from the corridor; I rolled my eyes and went quickly to get the door before she woke up my roommate up. Without wasting too much time she came straight into the room whispering “Ahn ahn! Why now, why did you change your mind” she asked me, “I never agreed on going anywhere with you in the first place” I told her and added that I was busy with classes and other things, “I know you’re lying, you have just a lecture today and I know when you’d be done, I just spoke with Bolaji and he said that they’re both coming, he told me to beg you, pleeeeeeease babe!” Yemisi began pleading, I remembered she didn’t tell me the name of her new man or maybe I wasn’t listening when she did so I asked who Bolaji was even though I knew she was referring to him, she told me that was the name of her so called new catch, I acted surprised and still shook my head that I wasn’t going anywhere, I didn’t want to sound somewhat needy or something by telling her he never called me even though she said she gave him my number so I finally told her that I would let her in on things later incase I changed my mind. She succumbed to this and finally left my room. I sighed and knew I had just been robbed off my remaining sleep that morning. I decided to prepare for school.

Dear Man Please (Episode 2)

Dear Man Please (Part 2)

"Though I know some men are gonna not so like me so much after this post, but you see I wouldn't want to confuse who reads this because men don't like getting busted for anything, well- especially when you know or play the game better than they do, they get pissed at you, hate your guts and still like your fine butt though, I'm washing some dirty laundry out here people so don't read if its gonna burn your eyes"

Yemisi decided to bully me about my crush as soon as we got outside the library and we both laughed about it but were soon talking about something else before getting to the Tantalizer’s cafeteria to eat lunch, Yemisi who drooled over married men with money gave me the gist on the Saturday date she had lastweek, the date she had lent a dress of mine to go to, I had told her to keep it though because I was so big on not taking back stuffs I borrow to people and the dress was really nice on her as she was the curvy girl of all men’s speck,
she fell into almost all the category of what men like, I on the other side was the slim girl who wasn’t also not bad looking but limited to one or two speck of women men wanted and liked. She told me she went shopping too and presented me with a bag of gifts, she had gotten me two new dresses and a pair of beautiful shoes,  she new my size and taste and I was ecstatic about them, I knew for her to bet me these stuffs that she must had bought loads of stuffs for herself I wouldn’t want to say she was the stingy type but again I’m not even near being offended, she gave when she wanted to without feeling compelled to do so too. She told me about her bank transaction too and whatever happened the night that led to all that she was telling me at the cafeteria- I have my mouth zipped on that. I wasn’t even jealous though but just like the human that I was I wondered why I wasn’t the one who met the man she was so excitedly telling me about, I wondered I didn’t have her very appealing body “Maybe I would had been the one in her shoes by now.“ I thought, well can’t worry about that I waved it off my mind atleast I got 2 dresses and a pair of shoes just by lending something to a friend, ‘ That wasn’t so bad .” I thought. I smiled genuinely at her as she went on with the whole event of that day till she finally added “A friend of his wants to meet a friend of mine oh! He said he liked slim fine girls and I thought of you, would you like to meet him because he’s just as rich as well oh!” she said to me and I was indeed surprised and felt a sense of guilt for what I had been thinking previously and asked if she was sure this so called person would like me to the extent of being so crazy about me without me even trying to impress and she finally added that he had seen my picture and she even told him I was prettier in person than what he was drooling about in the picture and she needed my permission to give him my number, I smiled and asked if she was really serious about it and she said she was so I was like  “of-course, give him my number, hope he’s got some good money oh and he’s not the beer belly kind” because I was also choosy on the men of my choice and I know my dear Yemisi didn’t mind what you looked like but just as soon as she smells you bulky money your face magically transforms into handsome to her and that was all she knew, I wouldn’t want to end up with some bald headed fat belly man looking like 10 of  me, no way……no way……no way. We concluded that she would send my number to her new boyfriend or manfriend! So that he could give it to his friend and that I should expect his call pretty soon. We left the cafeteria to our hostel though different rooms and I was excited to try on my new wears.

The next week passed and I got no call from the so called Mister Man that I had been expecting, I gave up waiting once 1 week lapse and thought she must had had a whiff of my genuine envy when she was talking about her new catch and thought of telling me something to make me feel better, I shrugged at myself and picked up a romance novel I had been reading and decided to go take my bath instead cause I bet  I must’ve been stinking already, would feel so lazy to take my bath everytime I wasn’t having lectures or any reason to leave my hostel although I had a pending assignment to write but wasn’t ready to start with that, I pushed myself off the bed to frab my towel and all my necessary bathing stuffs and tools you would think I was planning on transforming in the bathroom when you see all I take to take my bath in the bathroom, I love taking care of myself though and smelling goo and believe me men were attracted to this, I always wanted to be fresh everytime I go out, it was already 5pm and I knew I would want to step out atleast just the sake of leaving my bed. I proceeded to undressing to wrap myself in my towel while eavesdropping to my room-mate who was lamenting about her boyfriend again to her friend I wasn’t in the mood to advice her this time around because I don’t why she’s still with the guy who makes her unhappy, I mean like except if she’s not a goat she’d keep going back to him and its not even like the so called BOY did anything tangible for her- he crowned everything all up by dating and deceiving other girls just like her but I guess the guy has some good talents if all these girls keep going back to him, I shook my head and picked up my toilet bag  laughing at my room-mate within me “poor girl”, my phone rang in time for me to leave the room and I almost didn’t want to go back and pick up the phone, “Lola “my room-mate was already calling my name as I almost stepped out of the room,  I told her I was going to pick it up anyway and I went for my phone, I stared at the strange number calling and wasn’t sure I wanted to pick up because I had been avoiding some people for  a while now and I had the habit of being  quick at deleting phone numbers off my phone which I usually blame myself for because I always end up picking up unwanted calls. I missed the first call and the second one came in before I could return the phone, I sighed and answered the call, I whispered hello to hear the voice of who was calling and it wasn’t whomever I must’ve been expecting so I relaxed, within a minute my caller was chatting me up and I was careful not to sound so convincing and then he finally introduced himself as Dele, he said he was a friend to Yemisi and has been dying to meet me (I rolled my eyes because it took him 1 whole week to prove this), he said he’s been so busy for while now and just thought of talking to me to ease himself and I giggled sweetly at this like I meant it, he said I was a realy beautiful girl with a lovely physique and would love to meet me in person, I giggled again and asked why he wanted to meet me, he said he wouldn’t want to miss the chance of a life time not to come across a beauty like mine and to tell you the truth I was indeed flattered at all the psyches he was throwing at me, he then said he would be coming to Ibadan which was were my university was located for some business meeting and also to get some pleasure as well and in response to this I sounded unsure about being available on that day and lied that I would be having classes and was onto finishing my assignment which had the deadline of that day after all I thought  “you had to wait till you come over here before you called me, what am I? A call girl or what? “  He laughed and said we could still see in the evening time as he would be busy during the, he also added that Yemisi told him that I was a shopaholic and he hopped I wouldn’t finish his money when he comes over, I faked a laugh even though I was smiling from ear to ear from hearing this and yes, he had passed the needed message and I picked it  clearly, I said I would let him know before then if I would be available which meant that if he didn’t keep tabs on me he wouldn’t be see me then, he gave me some more psyches and got me laughing genuinely because he was kind of funny, after some minutes of talking we ended the call with him promising to talk to me later but I wasn’t banking on this promise though. I dropped the phone and smiled to myself thinking about all the shopping and the money of this world, I picked up my phone again and checked him out on face book, he looked good enough if I was sure I was checking out the real person, I think he looked lika some billion dollars too. I dropped my phone and knew I was going to have a happy time in the bathroom ................to be continued.

Knock, Knock, Its The Unfriendly. Chapter V

CHAPTER FIVE
DINNER
The next morning, Patricia woke up in her bed in thoughts, she could still remember all that had happened the day before, on Thursday she had jumped in class out of fear of feeling a chill
on her face, she had lost her appetite after she felt Jimi’s palm in school, she remembered the boy who appeared at her house and spoke to her without even moving his lips, pleading and demanding she let him in and insisting she was his as he was hers. His eyes were so blue it felt so unnatural and he had finally disappeared, more like fading away. She wondered how come she hadn’t run into the house and locked the door, “What had held my feet from moving?” she asked herself. She remembered narrating the noon ordeal to her family and could see disbelief in their faces. They had thought some other ailment was wrong with her even though she insisted she felt better with herself later that day. Her mother had returned from work and called their family doctor immediately. Dr. Mathew had prescribed that she ate well and use drugs to put her to bed instead and promised to check in in the morning. She couldn’t even tease herself on how scared she had become and had thrown up at the front door afterwards. She had slept dead in the night that she couldn’t move from the original position she had laid down, her sleep was too deep even though it was dreamless. She remembered feeling cold in the night and that her feet were exposed to the cold even though there was no source of such in her room. She had shivered but yet was weak to do anything about it as she had been drugged. She sat up on her bed and looked at her bedside clock, it read 10am, she knew there was no school for her already. A knock came on her bedroom door and opened as she turned towards it. Her mum came in with a breakfast tray, looking worried and suspicious. She was already dressed up ready for work. “Dr. Mathew would be here soon, darling, how are you this morning” Mrs. Andrews said as she walked towards her daughter’s bed. “Good morning mummy, I feel okay already, I told you I was fine last night” Patricia said rolling her eyes. Her mum came to her bed, placed her food on the bed and felt her forehead, “I can see that, but he still has to check you though, your dad came to check you this morning before you woke up, he was pretty worried too” her mother told her. “But I’m fine mum, I told you last night” Patricia got off the bed and stood on her feet, “look” she added. Her mother stood up ready to leave, “Get back to the bed and eat something, the doctor would be here soon” she said and kissed her daughter’s forehead. Deji and Wale came into the room after a single knock and stood at the entrance, “Your sister would be fine, you can leave now” Mrs. Andrews told her sons without looking at them. “We’re sorry mum, we shouldn’t had left the house, wanna ground us for life?” they both asked their mother sincerely. “Its okay but I need you guys to leave” she replied them both. They both knew they would certainly get grounded and both felt sorry they weren’t there when their sister got home. They couldn’t explain why she had looked funny before she finally threw up. They decided to leave the room. “The doctor’s here” Wale added before leaving. “Please tell him to come upstairs” Mrs. Andrews had answered.
Later that day, Patricia was left alone with her twin brothers who had insisted she stayed in the living room, they were ready to babysit her on whatever case. The doctor had given her a checkup, he had taken her urine sample and did something to it, he took her temperature and checked her eyes, mouth, ears, nose and skin, he didn’t seem to find anything as he told her mother she was fine. He had only wanted Patricia to have a bed rest and have her family report to him should incase anything funny occurs again. Nobody seemed to be interested in what she had seen. In fact she feared that if she argued or insisted on what she had seen she might be seen as mentally imbalanced. Her brother had walked towards her on Thursday evening and had stood in front of her for good two minutes without her seeing him. He of course had seen nobody or anything out of the ordinary. She sat on the living room couch ignoring her brothers’ PS2 game. She hadn’t even mentioned her scare in school and all the cold she had been feeling in her room for almost a week now. She remembered the weird eyed one calling himself Jimi and saying she had said she loved him. “What about that day at the mall, his face appearing in the mirror I was looking at” She thought she was probably really loosing her mind gradually. She consoled herself with the dinner party she was attending the next day, the doctor had promised she could go out anyway since she was fine and her mother had agreed. Her dad had called from his office to check on her, he even listened to her tell him all she thought was up with her, she decided to tell him all the funny encounters she had had since the day at the shopping mall while he listened to her over the phone, she hoped she didn’t sound insane as she told him everything. Her dad assured her that he would see to everything when he got back from work.
The day had only been ordinary, nobody came knocking on the door, Patricia began to worry less and relax, “Maybe I ate too much and hallucinated” she thought to herself.
When her dad returned from work, he told her that they would deal with her issue after her dinner party, he was planning to take his daughter to a friend of his who was a psychologist. He came home with cookies and chocolates, intending to bribe her with her sweet tooth.
Patricia though had had an ordinary day but still had the cold nights, the weird eyed one still visited her and watched her sleep, he tried impossibly to touch her feet, he knew he couldn’t do more than look at her, she had never accepted him nor invited him inside, he doubted if she would ever, he was getting more impatient with her after all she had sorted him out first, she had written her love for him on the tree where he had been buried so many years ago, it was his tree and she had carved deeply into its bark, “Forever” she had written. She couldn’t had mistaken his name, she had written his vessel letters even though his vessel didn’t know it was her, he had to have her, he loved her and would certainly have her. He shall take Jimi’s body as usual and have her, “Today” he whispered and slowly faded away.

CHAPTER FOUR
PREPARATION FOR DINNER
Patricia had anticipated the week of the dinner so much that she tried her dress almost every night before going to bed, she would where her shoes and look in the mirror. She got herself so worked up that she thought the only thing that could prevent her from attending the dinner was if the world were to end, she couldn’t wait to show off her dress and her makeover. She had written a note and dropped it at Jimi’s seat as usual. The note had read “See you at the school’s dinner, love…”, Patricia was enjoying every single anonymous behavior towards Jimi. He had read the note in class and his dimples immediately gave him away. Jimi of course was clueless.

The weekdays passed by slowly, every student anticipating and getting restless, acting very careful not to get into any trouble in school or anywhere. Nobody was planning on getting grounded that week, at home they all did their chores on time and threaded careful around their parents. Patricia went to bed every time and only thought about her dress. Every night the chill came, she woke up at the same time interval wondering who else was in her room, she had dragged herself up few times to turn on the light and look around, look out her room should incase someone was up but everything was always still and well. She would walk sleepily back to bed and fall asleep again.

Thursday came and the excitement at homes and in schools kept increasing, late shoppers were rushing around trying to cheat time to buy the things needed. Salons were being booked by girls and their parents to get their hair done. Apart from the dinner anxiety, all school activities were still the same. Patricia sat in class that Thursday morning listening to her French teacher, she took down her usual clueless notes and paid attention. She jerked with shock when she felt something cold touch her face. She had flung the pen she was holding and pushed her chair backwards trying to escape something. Everyone turned to look at her wondering what went wrong with her, she was only speechless when her teacher asked her in French if she was okay, she nodded and gave a weak smile. Everyone soon lost interest in her and went back to learning except Jimi who kept on staring at her until she caught him. After class Patricia sat in her class wondering what had happened earlier. She was sure that she hadn’t imagined it, it was like someone threw a bucket of ice on her face. She had been startled but had tried to calm herself, she thought how she might had screamed right there in class with everyone thinking she needed some medical attention. She thought about the concerned look Jimi had given her, how she caught him staring at her, “Now he would think I’m not so cool, some chicken too” she had scolded herself. She knew her classmates would talk about her jumpy behavior through out that day, the gist might even get to other classes. She hoped no one would tease her over it anyway. She decided to clear her desk and head to the cafeteria. Packing her books a familiar looking note fell on the floor. She cocked her head to the sides wandering what it was and decided to ignore it. On her way out of the class she decided to check the note, she walked back to her seat and picked up the note from the floor. She opened it and it read “See you at schools dinner, love…”. Maybe she might had smiled or laughed at herself on normal days when she hadn’t had any weird encounter she could understand but at that instance she put the note in her pocket, she knew she hadn’t left her seat since the class ended, she was very sure of that and no one must had had the time to put a note among the pile of book she had on her desk, she started getting nervous. “Maybe Jimi now knew about me, oh gosh!” she thought to herself, she began to develop a funny shyness as she got closer to the cafeteria. “What if I’m not his type or he has a girlfriend already” she thought about all the what ‘ifs’ she could grasp her mind on. She finally stepped into the cafeteria feeling more nervous and strongly watched even though she couldn’t find anyone looking her way too long as she walked by. She pretended not to want to know where Jimi must had been seated.

She waved at some schoolmates who waved at her and also wanting her to join their table too, she declined apologetically and lied that she needed to get something done quietly. She didn’t want Jimi to finally want to talk to her about feelings in front of others. She joined a table seated by a quiet geek and took out her lunch set from her bag. She was about to start eating when a shadow stood over her table, her heart skipped once and she could feel that choking feeling you get when your nervousness gets to a different level, she looked up prepared to expect whatever and there he was standing and smiling at her. She sighed and relaxed when she saw that it was Alex instead, “How’s my date doing today? You look pretty today” he said to her, she gave him a weak smile and added a little giggle without saying a word, “I heard you had some kind of a scare earlier today, I hope you okay?” he asked her. “I’m alright, I only saw a spider, that’s all” she told him, this was her so called date whom hadn’t spoken to her since the last time he did at the cafeteria, the first and last greeting card he had left on her desk was the last time he communicated with her, she watched him as he checked his shoes as usual and was already moving to leave, she wished she could exchange dates with Jimi, the two couples would had been too perfect for each other. “Okay then, guess I’d be seeing you later, got to go eat my lunch” he said as he was making to leave. Something told her to ask him about the note she had seen earlier and she did. “Alex, did you by ay chance drop any note on my desk earlier?” she asked him. “Nope, not at all” she heard him say as he headed elsewhere. “Pathetic boy, so rude” she said more to herself and rolled her eyes as he walked away. She thought about the note and got tempted to bring it out and read it again, to try to see if there was any difference to the one she had written in the morning but she dared not, she didn’t want to get caught with it or looking at it. She stared at her food as she tried to remember the cold feeling she had felt on her face earlier and still couldn’t figure out anything. The shadow over a table came back again, she sighed and thought ‘Alex actually wrote the note?’ and she looked up. Jimi stood staring at her thoughtfully and she must had blushed because her face became really hot, she could only smile. “Hi, I’ve been wondering if you came to cafeteria at all” he said to her. ‘This must be it’ she thought to herself. “Yes, uhm! I’m here now” she answered him unintelligently, “What’s going on?” she added quickly. He shrugged as he spoke “Nothing, was just wondering what happened to you today, you almost jumped out of your skin, if there was no one behind you you might had fallen over” he said. “Oh no, I’m fine, it was just a stupid spider and I hate those things” she said nervously trying to sound convincing. He asked her if she was sure of that and if everything was okay with her before he became speechless and only stared at her. She told him she was fine and looked at him wondering and waiting for him to tell her about the note. He stopped staring and looked away, he gave her his sweet dimpled smile and got ready to leave. She had expected him to take a seat by or opposite her and talk to her about the note, whether to tell her he was crushing on her too or to let her down easy but he only turned to leave. “Uhm Jim, did you…” she said as her voice trailed off. He had stopped and returned his attention to her waiting to be asked what was on her mind. She contemplated on asking him and decided to at last. “I found a note among my books, did you drop anyone on my desk?” she finally asked him and almost kicked herself. “No I didn’t, never did, but I want to talk to you…” he replied her “one of these days” he quickly added. She nodded slowly and was disappointed when he added his last words “one of these days”. She watched him smile his sweet smile again and made to shake her hand before he left. ‘Interesting’ she thought and raised her hand to shake his. His hands were sweaty and cold, extremely cold like he had been washing his hands in icy cold water. She tried to withdraw her hand quickly but he had already left hers. His handsome face smiled and he walked away. She looked at her hand and lost her appetite. ‘So weird’ she thought, she knew it was common for boys to have sweaty hands around girls especially around the girls they liked but the icy cold feel was really weird, she packed up her food and decided to head back to class. On her way back to class she had a very strong urge to turn back as she felt being watched, she jerked around in the hall but saw no one and kept walking even thought the weird eyed one stood by a wall staring intensely at her… unseen.
Patricia didn’t think she had had a good day at all, the incident of that day still bothered her, the note was part of it too. Jimi might had been lying about returning the note but that seemed unlikely of him to play such tricks, he had this matured thing going on with him, maybe he suspected she was the one crushing on him and decided to give it back to see her reaction, maybe someone else borrowed it to communicate with her but who? Certainly not Alex, Alex was very much straight forward. The writing on the note was definitely hers, she walked home slowly in her thoughts. She adjusted her backpack as she entered her street and shivered, she felt a chilly feeling to her left arm and rubbed quickly, she sighed wondering where the cold breeze must had come from and increased her pace to get home quickly. The weird eyed one walked by her side-by-side looking at her occasionally, increasing paces as she did. He was left outside as she unlocked the front door of her house, stepped into her home and shut the door shortly. She stepped into the empty house wondering where her brothers had gone, “I thought they had holidays for the week” she thought to herself and dropped her bag on her way to the kitchen. She was famished enough not to even wait to take off her uniform before eating, she found some food in the fridge and transferred it into the microwave to warm up. Before her food could heat up the house-phone began to ring. She grunted impatiently and went for it, “Hello, hello? Who?” she said to the receiver “Its Deji, has mummy called?” her brother asked her over the phone. She rolled her eyes and answered, “No, she hasn’t, I just got home, where are you guys?”. “I and Wale just went out to get something, don’t tell mum we went out, just tell her we just took a walk as you got home, okay?  Deji said to her restlessly. “We’d be back very soon, we’d get something for you, chocolates?” he added quickly. Patricia smiled as soon as she heard about the chocolates, “Sure, I’d try, but you have to get home on time before mum does, don’t want any trouble” she said. Deji okayed her and hung-up. She rushed back to the microwave and got her meal out, took a spoon out and rushed at it, she hadn’t eaten anything other than breakfast all day and was sure the lunch she had in her bag would had gone bad. After she was done eating she drank some water and relaxed on the dining chair looking at her stomach, she touched it and giggled at herself. “Hungry something” she said to herself. She got up and headed to where she had dropped her schoolbag. A knock came on the door. She stopped surprised that people still knocked first instead of using the doorbell. She thought she might ignore should incase she didn’t hear right and walked towards picking up her bag, she picked it up and the knock came again, she yawned and took the bag up from the floor and went to get the door, “Who is it, she said as she began opening the door then changed her mind to use the peephole, she saw nothing. She strained her eyes into the corners of the peephole to see farther enough but nothing showed. She gave up and decided to head upstairs. A knock came again and she stopped in her tracks and checked the peephole again but still she saw nothing, if one of her brothers was pranking her then she might just snitch to their mum about them leaving the house even though she hadn’t been home yet, “Who is it?” she said aloud with irritation. She got no answer, she stepped back to look at the door in annoyance then the knock came again, she used the peephole one more time and when she saw no one she yanked the door open in aggression. “Who…” she said and the remaining words hung in the air as she saw the boy standing in front of her, handsome and almost beautiful. He was slim and five inches taller than her, his skin looked pale and his eyes were very blue, “Weird, a Nigerian with pale dark skin, and the eyes?” she thought within herself. He also bore a good resemblance to Jimi in her class like he was his twin brother except that he was more handsome, “Is Jimi a twin?” she thought to herself. He moved closer to her and the air around him went cold. He smiled and his teeth sparkled white, “Who are you, how did you find me?” Patricia thought and was in shock. She couldn’t say nor do anything. “Hi” he said without moving his mouth, he raised his brows waiting for a response. She still stared and couldn’t move, she didn’t like how she felt and wanted to get away from his presence, “What…” she tried to speak but couldn’t finish the sentence, “I would like to talk to you, please let me in” he said to her mind and stared into her eyes, he moved closer to her trying to hold their eye contact as she cringed away, he made to touch her but something seemed to hold him back as he withdrew his hand, she still felt an icy touch on her shoulder and still couldn’t speak and was trying to snatch her eyes away, “Would you please let me in?” he asked her again, “Talk to me please, May I come in?” he added sounding more stern. He watched her as she shook her head slowly and still said nothing, her lips were numb but her mind said so much, fighting the urge to allow him into her home. He still stood there facing her with a warning look, “You wrote our names on my tree” he said to her again. “Our tree” he corrected himself and still held her eyes in his. “We are one, you said forever, you said you loved me, I am Jimi and I’m yours as you’re mine too, I have to come in and stay with you or you have to accept me and come with me” he said into her mind as his smile faded into a straight face. She still shook her head slowly trying to refuse him and was getting more confused as each seconds passed. She felt really cold but couldn’t shiver or even rub her hands, she couldn’t move more than a statute could. She just stared back at him struggling with the battle that was going on in her mind. He stared back at her with tears and anger starting to come to his eyes as he started to fade away until she saw him no more, right in front of her Deji stood with a puzzled look. He waved his hands in front of her to be sure she could see him. Patricia blinked and sighed, she started shaking and threw up on Deji’s shoes before he could hold her as Wale got out of their car and hurried to them. The house phone had begun to ring within the house.
